The Struggle
So I tried popping a huge cyst and this is currently what I am having to deal with...kill me.
Delivery Anxiety
I ordered a dress from Maurie and Eve in Australia earlier this week. It's a gamble since 1. I don't know if the dress will fit me (I ordered AUS8/US4 which is what size the model was wearing) 2. I don't know if it will be delivered before next Friday which is when I leave for San Feancisco. I've been tracking the package obsessively and just saw "undeliverable". Ahh panicking. I think it is just a minor delay though.
I'm hoping to get the dress by Tuesday so I can get it tailored if I need to. Also, after calling the company, they said that the neoprene is a light thin neoprene and not the sturdy thick neoprene that hides flaws. Damn it. Fingers crossed this dress works out for me.

Shit Packaging
How can a product be so good but have such awful packaging?? The product is squeezing out of the holes that have formed on the sides of the tube...
Tailor It
I have finally found a fantastic tailor in Memphis! This search has lasted two years and it is a glorious feat. Memphis doesn't have as many choices of service providers as a big city does. I have a shoe cobbler and dry cleaning shop I normally visit, but neither of them I feel like "wow this is perfect I couldn't ask for anything better!" which is sort of what you want to feel when you provide repeat business for a service.
I had the sleeves of a leather jacket, a blouse with leather accented sleeves, and a silk blouse hemmed. I was very worried about getting work done on a leather jacket, since it is a difficult material to tailor and it is so important that the tailor is confident, has the necessary machine/tools, and has the skills necessary to do a great job. I am incredibly satisfied with Richard's service, and I'm probably going to bring a dress to him that needs tailoring all throughout to him next time. I've never took in a piece for tailoring on the bodice, mostly out of fear. Richard's been in the business over 30 years, and I feel confident about bringing such a big tailoring project for him. Best of all, he is unbelievably nice and honest--he even gave me discount when I told him I was a student!
I strongly believe that a well tailored item can add so much to the overall look. Being a short girl, long sleeves on blouses almost always need to be hemmed. Jeans are no question, it is a must or else the pant leg covers my entire foot and beyond.
A.L.C Blouse
The sleeves on this blouse were way too long and wide for me. He made it the correct length and also made the opening and overall sleeve narrower for a more flattering look, while still maintaining the drapey silk blouse effect.
He has a strange collection of photos of him and different members of Republican party (Cheney, Bush, etc.) that he is really proud of. If you ask him about these photos you will make his day.

Selling a Fave
I have decided that I don't need my beloved Balenciaga Papier tote at the moment. I would much rather see someone using this beautiful bag instead of seeing it sit in my closet untouched. I carried it everyday as my work bag when I was in London for a month, and I also used it as my carry-on bag when I flew to Taiwan. I haven't used it since then, although I am kind of obsessed with looking at it and caressing the unbelievably soft buttery leather.
Knock offs are a big no no for me. As you can see below, I purchased this bag from Barney's in October 2013. This bag is not even 6 months old! It's in perfect condition with absolutely zero flaws. Dust bag and authenticity cards included. I am selling for $1000 (free shipping!), which is about 40% off from what I paid for it a couple months ago. Glorious Sweatpants
Lululemon 'Define' Jacket, J. Crew Tank, Lululemon Pants
Ah, I forgot the style name of these Lululemon pants. I bought them during the Fall, and I don't think they are available anymore. They are supposed to be cropped, which means they are regular length for me--no hemming required! They fit really well although I have noticed after 3 wears the material becomes a little saggy and not as slim fit as they are fresh out the dryer. Other than that, great tapered pair of sweatpants that actually do not look like sweatpants from a certain distance. If you've purchased Lululemon, you are well aware that their sizing is pretty strange. I am a size 4 in all their bottoms and tops (would not even try fitting in their size 2, it's way too tight), but for their speed shorts I am a size 6. They offer free hemming on all their pants which is nice. I'm not a huge Lululemon fanatic like most women are (why are housewives obsessed with Lulu?!), but I do think they have some quality workout pieces that hide flaws and emphasize assets of a women's body.

Neoprene Cutout
One fairly new designer I've been keeping my eye on is Cushnie et Ochs. They were established in 2008, but they have just started getting a lot of red carpet attention the past year. I first saw one of their dresses on Forward by Elyse Walker and was like damn, I need that now. Then I saw the price tag of $1495 and cried silent tears. Cushnie et Ochs really stands out, and you can tell immediately when someone is wearing one of their unique designs. Their designs are known for being simple, understated, modern, and most of all, the use of strategic cutouts. Their dresses make a bold statement of raw sensuality and it celebrates the allure of the female body. Cushnie et Ochs reminds me slightly of Helmut Lang because of their minimalist designs with excellent use of shapes and lines, however Cushnie et Ochs designs much more skintight silhouettes with a bolder sensual aesthetic.
I found a very similar dress from Australian designer Maurie & Eve at a more reasonable price of $260. It also comes in a shorter version, which is the one I want to purchase. However, they're out of my size! I'm debating purchasing the midi version and perhaps getting it hemmed. There are no sizing reviews about Maurie & Eve clothing online, and I feel uncomfortable ordering something from Australia without knowing exactly what size is right for me. I love the knee length version, but I have a lot of knee length dresses and am trying to expand (or rather, start) my collection of mini dresses. The cutout seems larger than the Cushnie et Ochs version and the straps can either be worn on the shoulder or off the shoulder.

I need more outfits that don't make me look like a 30 year old woman bitch. I don't think I can pull off something as s l u t t y as a backless bodysuit though...even if it is tastefully slutty.

Kate Spade's 'Lori' heels are my go-to going out shoes. I prefer nude heels to black heels when going out, just because they make your legs look longer. Also, they match everything--they are the perfect shade of beige! The patent leather is very high quality and they have this playful sophistication to them that really adds to any outfit. The hidden platform is so flattering and classy. Simply put, this is a beautiful shoe and is definitely on my 'essentials' list.
I have worn these countless times the past year and a half. The best part about these is how unexpectedly comfortable they are. I wore them in Beijing one night starting around 5PM. Walked to dinner, attended a party that required you to stand the whole time, and walked to early morning munchies spot. Got back home at 7AM and there was zero pain in my feet. I have never had a pair of heels where I could get away with standing/walking 12 + hours with absolutely no discomfort whatsoever. Keep in mind these are 4 inch heels!
I would prefer the toe to be slightly more almond shaped, but the round toe doesn't take away from my love for this shoe. Kate Spade heels run TTS (their flats you should order 1/2 size up). I am a true 7.5 and that is what I took in these. They're a great price for the quality and comfort ($328), and I guarantee you will wear them much more often than any pair of Louboutins.

Bad Ideas
My room reeked of the jalapeño lime ramen I made last night, so I decided to spray it with the closest thing I had to air freshener. As much as I love Jo Malone, I learned I should not use her perfume as a room spray because now everything smells like what I imagine the sex party in Eyes Wide Shut smelled like. Main point is this scent is great for a hot date but not to douse every inch of your room in. Maybe I will make another bowl of jalapeño lime ramen just to balance out the smell...
