Eating San Francisco: Mama's on Washington Square

Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict

Look at that orgasmic runny yolk oozing out

Monte Cristo

French Toast Sampler: Cranberry Orange Walnut, Cinnamon Brioche, and Banana Nut

Line is ridiculous. Stood waiting for 2 hours.

This place has so much hype surrounding it that it's hard not to be underwhelmed by the food. My favorite dish we ordered was definitely the dungeness crab eggs benedict, but it could have used a little bit more hollandaise sauce. The presentation of everything was absolutely mouth watering, but the Monte Cristo and French Toast sampler did not live up to the hype. The cranberry orange walnut slice was the yummiest out of the three flavors in the sampler. It had a refreshing tartness to it with bits of crunch from the walnuts.

The food is not so great that it warrants waiting in line for 2 hours, but it was a tasty experience and you can tell Mama's uses quality ingredients. Would visit again, but only if wait is 30 minutes or less.
