I am so desperate to get my jacket cleaned. When I bought it, the sales assistant gave me 5% off the item since it was a display item and it was the last they had in store. It has one small black pen mark that doesn't bug me that much, but the collar is abnormally wrinkly and I was hoping the cleaners would take care of that. What is the most annoying thing about this jacket that was the main motivation for me taking it to get cleaned was that the jacket has this really strong chemical smell emitting from it. It's like a mix of leather and chemicals, and it rubs off on anything that even comes near it. Very strong and noticeable. I was planning on wearing the jacket in San Francisco since it's a great lightweight Spring piece, but now I am having second thoughts. Perhaps I can find a place in San Francisco that can clean it in one day? Unlikely, but I'll see what I can do. I would hate not getting any wear out of it. In the time it takes for the cleaner in Memphis to send it to Missouri and back, it will already be 90 degrees and way too hot to wear a leather jacket.
It's supposed to be pretty smooth like shown above, but mine is wrinkled all over, especially in the collar area. I read online that steaming leather is fine, and it should take care of the wrinkles. I might take it in the shower with me and let the steam do its work but I'd feel much more comfortable having a professional clean it. Steaming it still won't take care of the pungent smell though :/
